Privacy policy: VEIL

In short

The VEIL app collects nothing. It has no analytics, advertising, crash reporting or tracking code and no account, and it does not send me any information about you, your device, your photos or how you use it.

Who is responsible

Nicholas Xerri, an independent software developer established in Malta ("I", "me"), is the controller for this website and support email. Contact: support@veilapp.eu. Post: P.O. Box 3, Mellieħa Post Office, Triq il-Madonna ta' Fatima, Mellieħa, Malta.

The app

Your photos, videos, albums, settings and the attempt log are stored only on your device, encrypted. I never receive any of them.

Photos: you choose items with the system picker. If you ask VEIL to delete originals after import, iOS asks your permission first.
Camera and microphone: used only when you take a photo or video with the private camera.
Face ID and Touch ID: checked by your device. VEIL only learns whether the check succeeded.
iCloud backup (optional): data is encrypted on your device before it is stored in your own iCloud account, under Apple’s terms. Apple cannot read it, and neither can I.
VEIL Transfer (optional): data goes directly and encrypted between your own devices on your local network.

Purchases

Apple processes the purchase of VEIL Plus under Apple’s privacy policy. I receive only Apple’s sales and financial reports, which do not identify you. The app checks your purchase on your device with Apple; nothing is sent to me.

Support email

If you email me, I use your message and address only to answer you, and delete the conversation 24 months after it ends unless the law requires otherwise. Legal basis: your request (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) and my legitimate interest in answering (Art. 6(1)(f)). Email to veilapp.eu addresses is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing.

If you choose to attach a support report (Settings › Support Report in the app), it holds only the app and system version, device model, rounded free storage, whether VEIL Plus is active, your public settings and short error codes. It never holds photos, file names, dates, counts or anything about your private library. The app shows you every line first and sends nothing itself: it only opens your own Mail app or share sheet.

This website

veilapp.eu sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, runs no analytics and loads nothing from other servers. It is served by Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver the pages and protect them from attacks; I see only aggregate counts. Legal basis: legitimate interest in a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f)).

Your rights

You can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your data, or object to processing, by emailing support@veilapp.eu. You can complain to Malta’s Information and Data Protection Commissioner (IDPC, idpc.org.mt), or to the authority where you live.

Children

VEIL is not directed at children under 13 and collects no data from anyone.
